Very famous Astrid Varnay in Jenufa w. Cochran,Cox Hillebrecht. She was to be a standee at the Met.They called her the night before. She NEVER sang an opera. She replaced Lehmann on the Walkure Matinee,instead of standing..Why could that not have happened to me???

Christa Ludwig, a MEZZO, was an absolute marvel. Boehm made a small cut. It was 1966 and I think it was the greatest all-around show in my LIFE!!!!!
